Appraisals & Evaluations
Carrying out appraisals and evaluations is one of my core activities, largely for Germany’s Agency for Inter-national Cooperation (GIZ), also for EU projects. More than 40 successful missions, as team leader or member, are definitely an advantage. I keep my assignments limited to infrastructure and private sector development. This allows me to balance sector needs with methodological requirements. Efficient delivery of required documentation in high quality included!
After several years of intensive work with GIZ’s comprehensive management model for sustainable development, the diversity in
concrete application is immense. I have noticed, however, that a practical and realistic use of its methods and tools can make projects easier, if not better. I support interested parties to
unfold the potential and value of their CW approaches. My expertise helps projects to prepare for oncoming evaluations or review their strategic approach.
Management & Strategy
Several management and strategic issues have to be resolved during a project’s lifetime. That may be straightforward operational planning or regular reporting activities. I assist with methodical and practical approaches, developed over many years of experience and profound knowledge of development project work. But also, strategic orientation, steering structures, M&E approaches or overcoming sudden implementation challenges feature in this line of business.
My focus lies on building market oriented capacities and relationships of private and public actors. I analyse value chains and shape concepts for their improvement, support development partnerships with the private sector and facilitate public-private-dialogue processes and fora. Also included is strengthening of business membership organizations. Inside experience in business networks and associations, e.g. as board member or secretary, adds authenticity to my work.
